Legal Experience

Albert Carrion possesses a hybrid practice that focuses on both intellectual property (“IP”) transactions and IP litigation.  He regularly negotiates transactions involving software, trademarks, trade secrets, patents, and corporate agreements relating to their sale or transfer.  He prosecutes trademark applications before the U.S. Patent & Trademark office and registers works of authorship at the U.S. Copyright office.  Mr. Carrion also handles litigation relating to the ownership, use and infringement of all forms of IP, with an emphasis on patent litigation, in addition to other business-related disputes.

Specific Matters of Representation

  • Counsels clients regarding the selection of trademarks and their prosecution and registration before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.  He also represents clients in adversarial proceedings at the Trademark Trial & Appeal Board.
  • Advises clients concerning the management of and strategy to protect intellectual property assets.
  • Provides guidance to start-up companies in the preparation of organizational documents, domain name acquisition, website development agreements and terms of use, export license acquisition, and consultant, employment, non-disclosure and related agreements in order to commence business operations.
  • Handles domain name litigation under the Anti-Cyber-Squatting Act and Uniform Dispute Resolution Protocol, as well as transactions involving the acquisition or sale of domain names.
  • Prepares and negotiates license agreements, with particular emphasis on software license, support and development agreements.
  • Litigates patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret claims in federal and state courts.
