Legal Experience

Ms. Rothman’s experience includes complex commercial litigation matters involving fraud, lender liability, security fraud, officer and director liability, contract disputes, and oil and gas disputes. Her experience also includes medical malpractice, personal injury, and product liability, with an emphasis on engineering resins, plastic pipe, and medical devices.

Representative Engagements

Ms. Rothman has represented clients in a variety of areas, including:

Oil & Gas Litigation:

  • Litigation on behalf of an interstate gas pipeline company involving a gas transportation agreement
  • Litigation in which multiple royalty interest owners sued a producer and an interstate gas pipeline company for failing to pay the full price specified in a gas purchase contract
  • Litigation on behalf of an interstate gas pipeline company in which royalty owners sued the pipeline for tortiously interfering with a lease
  • Litigation in which a producer sued an interstate gas pipeline company for indemnity pursuant to an “excess royalty” clause

Commercial Litigation:

  • Litigation involving breach of contract, fraud and deceptive trade practices arising from the sale of engineering resins
  • Coverage litigation involving a claims made policy sold to a timber management organization
  • 10b-5 and state securities fraud litigation involving securities, annuities, and investment advice
  • Officers and directors litigation involving claims of fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and usurpation of corporate opportunity
  • Lender liability litigation involving alleged conspiracy to violate §§ 1 and 2 of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act and improper posting of property for foreclosure

Trust Litigation:

  • Litigation involving alleged self-dealing in the sale of corporate stock to independent executors
  • Litigation involving protection of inter vivos trust in a case where ex-spouse alleged that over one million dollars had been fraudulently conveyed to the trust
  • Litigation for trust department of bank involving alleged conversion of timber trust property

Products and Personal Injury Litigation:

  • Wrongful death litigation involving a rotating drive train that failed during testing
  • Medical device litigation involving external defibrillators, fetal heart monitors, home infant monitors, and aortic balloon pumps
  • Litigation involving polybutylene water pipe
  • Litigation on behalf of an automobile manufacturer involving approximately 30 Venezuelan rollover accidents
