Legal Experience
For nearly 40 years, Bob Dupuy has represented institutional investors, developers and lenders in a wide variety of transactional matters, primarily involving energy and real estate. Since 1995, he has focused a significant part of his practice on complex transactions, including energy related project development and finance transactions.
Specific Experience
- Electric generation facility development, acquisition and finance
- Acquisition and disposition of undeveloped land and improved properties, including assemblage of multiple tracts for single development
- Development of office, multi-family, retail and warehouse projects
- Construction of commercial projects, including resolution of construction disputes
- Management of pre-development and pre-acquisition due diligence for both real estate and electric generating projects, including environmental and other regulatory issues
- Financing of development activities and acquisitions, including equity investments
- Development of complex business strategies, including financial restructurings
Significant Engagements
- Development and financing of 1,220 megawatt combined cycle electric generating facility in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma (2001)
- Development and financing of 845 megawatt combined cycle electric generating facility in Rusk County, Texas (1999)
- Financing of 632 megawatt coal fired electric generating facility in Victoria and Goliad Counties, Texas (2006)
- Development of complex structure to allow sale and financing of an environmentally impacted retail development in Houston, Texas (1995-1996)
- Acquisition of $380 million portfolio consisting of 14 office buildings (total square feet - 3,000,000), 14 tracts of land, 2 multi-family projects, oil and gas interests, partnership interests (including an interest in the Dallas Mavericks), and a construction equipment leasing company (1997)
- Acquisition of Desert Mountain, an 8,000-acre residential land development in Scottsdale, Arizona including country club and five golf courses (1997)
- Acquisition of Prestonwood Mall, Dallas, Texas (1,500,000 square feet) (2000)
- Structured severance and acquisition of air rights for office facility in Dallas, Texas (2004)
