Our Community » Pro-Bono Work
We encourage all of our attorneys to volunteer their time to pro bono service, not only because of their professional responsibility, but also because many of our attorneys count their pro bono cases among their most rewarding personal experiences.
Following are a few of the organizations that we regularly support:
Volunteer Legal Services
Our attorneys have actively participated in accepting cases through Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas (VLS) for more than two decades. VLS is a nonprofit organization that matches low-income individuals seeking assistance in civil cases to attorneys willing to take cases at no cost. Most of these pro bono matters involve either family law or social security disability benefits, although occasional cases involve other legal issues such as landlord/tenant issues, contract disputes and drafting wills.
Capital Area AIDS Legal Project
Capital Area AIDS Legal Project (CAALP) is the legal assistance arm of AIDS Services of Austin and provides assistance to persons afflicted with or affected by AIDS. Brown McCarroll attorneys have accepted cases on a pro bono basis from CAALP for more than a decade. In particular, a number of our attorneys have assisted with social security-related cases, assisting individuals who are unable to obtain benefits without attorney intervention.
