If you are like most of our clients, you do not want to stand by while others shape new laws and regulations that may adversely affect your company. We understand and share your interest in contributing to the comments and debates. Through our lobbying and public policy advocacy over the years, we have played an instrumental role in the evolution of Texas environmental laws and regulations on issues ranging from environmental audits and immunity to tax exemption for pollution control equipment.  Further, we routinely work on behalf of clients and with the Texas Chemical Council ("TCC") and Texas Oil and Gas Association ("TXOGA") on rulemaking matters.  For example, we were recently successful in petitioning the TCEQ on behalf of a client to institute a rulemaking to expand a rule exemption to include the client's facility.  In addition, we recently worked with TXOGA on comments to a Texas Railroad Commission rulemaking on injection and storage of CO2 in oil and gas reservoirs.

Our team of environmental attorneys work closely with our governmental and legislative affairs group to represent our clients' positions.

With respect to public policy advocacy we often:

  • Lobby on behalf of our clients
  • Prepare comments to proposed rulemaking
  • Build relationships with key policy makers
  • Inform our clients of developing issues
  • Participate in organizations that help shape policy and law
